Park River Independent Democrats (PRID) founded in 1959 by West Side Reform Democrats, endorses and actively supports local and national candidates and addresses issues of critical importance , as part of an upper West Side community, supporting for example pedestrian safety and application of traffic laws to commercial bicyclists, and since September 2002, opposition to Bush's war in IRAQ.

We'd like you to become a member of PRID. Our District Leaders are Earl Scott and Cory Erin Haber.

Park River Independent Democrats has a diverse multitalented membership of registered Democrats who create a bond between the community and our elected officials and candidates for office; we articulate and communicate positions on issues of common concern through monthly meetings and e-mail notices. We also conduct voter registration drives and gather signatures for petitions. Our monthly membership meetings are free and open to the public and feature a selected topic and guest speakers.  Elected officials often drop by to keep us informed and answer questions about the Borough President?s office, City Council, State Legislature, State Attorney General?s office, Comptroller?s Office (state and city), and the U. S. Congress.

We pride ourselves on
  • Supporting and electing progressive candidates to political office and, through a non-partisan screening process, to the judiciary.Having opposed the unilateral pre-emptive war against IRAQ, as early as September 2002.
